Hand Embroidered Cards

I thought these cards would make a great DIY for the blog 
because they're easy and fun to make and you'll probably have all the materials on hand. 
If you're like me, there's a lot of colored thread tucked away.

What you will need:

Pencil to draw your design
thick piece of cardboard
embroidery floss
blank papers
Embroidery needle and a pin with a head
Blank Card

Start by sketching your design on a thin piece of blank paper. Unless you're super great at embroidery, 
it's best to keep it simple. Tape your design to the card or secure it with a few paper clips.

You can now start drilling holes along the lines using a head pin. 
A thumbtack will work too, you just need something to hold on to. 
Put the piece of cardboard on the back of the card so you can insert the needle all the way in. 
Holes will be your guide when you start embroidering.

Now comes the fun part! Oh, did I say the fun part? 
I meant the painful part! Seriously, I haven't embroidered in a while, so my fingers were pretty sore. 
Be careful not to pull the thread too tightly or you will tear the paper. I used 4 rows of thread for sewing. 
I found that pulling out all the floss was very difficult and less than 4 wires showed the holes too much.

I only used one backstitch for my entire design, but you can get really creative with different stitches here. 
Carefully tie back knots to secure your seams.

When you're done, admire your work!

The back didn't look bad, but I still wanted to close it.

I cut a piece of white paper slightly smaller than the card and fixed it along the fold using some glue.
