RIGHT FRONT
Work as for Left Front until piece measures 7 (8, 9) in. (18 (20.5, 23) cm) from beg, end
with Row 1 of Eyelet pattern.
Shape Armhole
Next Row: Bind off 3 (4, 5) sts, purl to end of row. Place rem 22 (29, 34) (27, 32) sts on a
holder.

Circular needle size 4 (3.5 mm), 24 in. (60 cm) long
Circular needle size 6 (4.25 mm), 24 in. (60 cm) long
3 buttons, 1/2 in. (13 mm) diameter
GAUGE:
Sweater, Hat, and Booties: 24 sts + 32 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) Eyelet pattern with size 4
(3.5 mm) needle.
Blanket: 22 sts + 34 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in Eyelet pattern with size 6 (4 mm) needle. BE
SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will
be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be
sufficient. If it takes you less stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a
smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION:
sk2p Slip 1 as if to knit, knit 2 together, pass slipped stitch over—2 sts decreased.
PATTERN STITCHES
Eyelet Pattern (multiple of 6 sts + 1)
Row 1 (RS): Knit.
Row 2: Purl.
Row 3: K1, *yo, p1, purl 3 sts tog, p1, yo, k1; rep from * to end.
Row 4: Purl.
Rep Rows 1–4 for Eyelet pattern.
K1, p1 Rib (over an odd number of sts)
Row 1: *K1, p1; rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 2: K the knit sts and p the purl sts.
Rep Row 2 for K1, p1 Rib.
SWEATER
BACK
Note: Circular needle is used to accommodate large number of sts on yoke. Work back and forth on circular needle
as if working on straight needles. With smallest needles, cast on 55 (67, 79) sts. Work in K1, p1 Rib for 3/4 in. (2
cm). Change to smaller circular needle and work in Eyelet pattern until piece measures 7 (8, 9) in. (18 (20.5, 23)
cm) from beg, end with Row 4 of Eyelet pattern.
Shape Armholes
Next Row: Bind off 3 (4, 5) sts, knit to end of row.
Next Row: Bind off 3 (4, 5) sts, purl to end of row. Place rem 49 (59, 69) sts on a holder.
LEFT FRONT
With smallest needles, cast on 25 (31, 37) sts. Work in K1, p1 Rib for 3/4 in. (2 cm). Change to smaller circular
needle. Work in Eyelet pattern until piece measures 7 (8, 9) in. (18 (20.5, 23) cm) from beg, end with Row 4 of
Eyelet pattern.
Shape Armhole
Next Row: Bind off 3 (4, 5) sts, knit to end of row.
Purl 1 row. Place rem 22 (27, 32) sts on a holder.
RIGHT FRONT
Work as for Left Front until piece measures 7 (8, 9) in. (18 (20.5, 23) cm) from beg, end with Row 1 of Eyelet
pattern.
Shape Armhole
Next Row: Bind off 3 (4, 5) sts, purl to end of row. Place rem 22 (27, 32) sts on a holder.
SLEEVES (make 2)
With smallest needles, cast on 37 (41, 45) sts. Work in K1, p1 Rib for 3/4 in. (2 cm), inc 6 (8, 10) sts evenly spaced
across last row – 43 (49, 55) sts. Change to smaller circular needle. Work in Eyelet pattern until piece measures 7
(8, 9) in. (18 (20.5, 23) cm) from beg, end with Row 4 of Eyelet pattern.
Shape Armhole
Next Row: Bind off 3 (4, 5) sts, knit to end of row.
Next Row: Bind off 3 (4, 5) sts, purl to end of row.
Place rem 37 (41, 45) sts on a holder.
YOKE
Place sts onto smaller circular needle in the following sequence: 22 (27, 32) Left Front sts, place marker, 37 (41, 45)
Sleeve sts, place marker, 49 (59, 69) Back sts, place marker, 37 (41, 45) Sleeve sts, place marker, 22 (27, 32)
Right Front sts – 167 (195, 223) sts.
Next (Dec) Row (RS): Join yarn. *K to 2 sts before next marker, k2tog tbl, slip marker, k2tog; rep from * across
all markers, k to end – 159 (187, 215) sts.
Next Row: Purl.
Rep the last 2 rows 12 (15, 18) more times, AT THE SAME TIME, when Yoke measures 2 1/2 (3 1/2, 4 1/2) in. (6.5
(9, 11.5) cm), shape neck as follows.
Shape Neck
Next Row: Work first 4 (5, 6) sts in St st (k on RS, p on WS) and place these sts on a holder, work to last 4 (5, 6)
sts, sl last 4 (5, 6) sts to a holder.
Continue in St st, AT THE SAME TIME, dec 1 st each end of next 2 (2, 2) RS rows.
Next Row (WS): *Work to 2 sts before next marker, p2tog, slip marker, p2tog; rep from * across all markers,
work to end. Leave rem 43 (45, 47) sts on a spare needle.
Neckband
With RS facing and smallest needles, pick up and k61 (65, 69) sts evenly spaced along neck edge, including sts on
holders. Work in K1, p1 Rib for 6 rows. Bind off.
Button Band
With RS facing and smallest needles, pick up and k61 (71, 81) sts evenly spaced along Left Front edge, including
neckband. Work in K1, p1 Rib for 6 rows. Bind off. Place markers for 3 buttons with first about 3/4 in. (2 cm) from
top, last at beg last row of Eyelet pattern, one evenly spaced between.
Buttonhole Band
Work as for Left Front Button Band for 2 rows.
Next (Buttonhole) Row: Work in rib as established, working yo, k2tog opposite each button marker.
Work 3 more rows in K1, p1 Rib. Bind off.
FINISHING
Sew side and Sleeve seams. Sew on buttons. Weave in ends.
BOOTIES
With smallest needles, cast on 27 sts. Work in K1, p1 Rib for 4 rows. Change to smaller circular needle.
Note: Work back and forth on circular needle as if working on straight needles.
Next Row: K1, work Row 1 of Eyelet pattern to last st, k1.
Keeping first and last st in Garter st (k every row) and rem sts in Eyelet pattern, work 8 more rows.
Next Row: Bind off 9 sts, knit to end of row.
Next Row: Bind off 9 sts, purl to end of row.
Top of Foot
Continue in St st on rem 9 sts for 1 1/2 in. (4 cm), end with a WS row. Cut yarn and leave sts on a spare needle.
With RS facing and smaller circular needle, pick up and k9 sts along the bound-off sts; 8 sts along side of top of foot;
k across 9 sts from spare needle, pick up and k8 sts along opposite side of top of foot; and 9 sts along rem bound-off
sts – 43 sts. Work in St st for 1 in. (2.5 cm), end with a WS row.
Next (Dec) Row: K2tog tbl, k18, k2tog, place marker, k2tog tbl, k to last 2 sts, k2tog – 39 sts.
Purl 1 row.
Next (Dec) Row: K2tog tbl, k to 2 sts before marker, k2tog, sl marker, k2tog tbl, k to last 2 sts, k2tog – 35 sts.
Purl 1 row.
Rep last Dec Row once
Bind off. Sew back seam. Seam bound-off edges tog to complete sole.
HAT
With smallest needles, cast on 85 sts. Work in K1, p1 Rib for 6 rows. Change to smaller circular needle.
Note: Work back and forth on circular needle as if working on straight needles.
Next Row: Purl, inc 12 sts evenly spaced across.
Work in Eyelet pattern for 24 rows, dec 1 st on last row – 96 sts.
Next (Dec) Row: *K10, k2tog; rep from * to end – 88 sts.
Next (Dec) Row: *P2tog, p9; rep from * to end – 80 sts.
Next (Dec) Row: *K8, k2tog; rep from * to end– 72 sts.
Next (Dec) Row: *P2tog, p7; rep from * to end – 64 sts.
Continue to dec 8 sts every row, working 1 st less between decs, until 16 sts rem. Cut yarn leaving a long tail.
Thread tail through rem sts and pull tightly tog. Sew seam.
BLANKET
Note: Circular needle is used to accommodate large number of sts. Work back and forth on circular needle and if
working on straight needles.
With larger circular needle, cast on 121 sts. Knit 5 rows. Keeping first and last 6 sts of each row in Garter St (k every
row), work in Eyelet pattern, until piece measures 32 in. (81.5 cm) from beg, end with Row 4 of Eyelet pattern. Knit
5 rows. Bind off.
